Description
A delicious cheesy onion bake that is perfect as a dip or side dish.
Ingredients

- 2 large sweet onions (such as Vidalia or Walla Walla)
- 8 oz cream cheese (full-fat)
- 1 cup sour cream (full-fat)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried thyme)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Slice the sweet onions thinly.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and add the onions. Sauté until translucent.
- Lower the heat, add a pinch of salt, and continue cooking until the onions are golden brown (about 20-25 minutes).
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Fold in half of the caramelized onions and half of the shredded cheeses into the mixture.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread the mixture in a baking dish and top with remaining onions and cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving with chips or veggies.
