Ingredients

Scale
For the Stir-Fry:
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (for marinating)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for marinating)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 1 cup bok choy or Napa cabbage, chopped
  • ½ cup bell peppers, sliced
  • ½ cup carrots, julienned
  • ½ cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
For the Sauce:
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with ¼ cup water (for thickening)
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Beef

  1. In a bowl, mix thinly sliced beef, soy sauce, and cornstarch.
  2. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Step 2: Prepare the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, black pepper, and cornstarch slurry.
  2. Set aside.

Step 3: Stir-Fry the Beef

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  3. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 4: Cook the Vegetables

  1. In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil.
  2. Stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, mushrooms, and bok choy. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Add bean sprouts and cook for 1 more minute.

Step 5: Combine & Serve

  1. Return the cooked beef to the pan.
  2. Pour in the prepared sauce, stirring constantly until it thickens and coats everything.
  3. Cook for 1-2 more minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Slice beef against the grain for the most tender texture.
  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
  • For extra crunch, add water chestnuts or snap peas.
  • Leftovers store well! Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
