Description
A delicious and healthy no-bake treat made with ripe bananas and oats.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter or almond butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Mash the bananas. In a large mixing bowl, mash your ripe bananas until smooth. This is the base of your sweetness and adds moisture too.
- Add wet ingredients. Mix in the peanut butter (or almond butter), maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is combined and creamy.
- Combine dry ingredients. Add rolled oats, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt to the bowl. Mix well until the oats are fully coated and the texture becomes thick.
- Optional add-ins. If you’re adding chocolate chips or chopped nuts, gently fold them in now for a touch of extra texture or indulgence.
- Press into pan. Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula or your hands to press it evenly into all corners and smooth the top.
- Bake. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Your kitchen will smell amazing by now.
- Cool and slice. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before slicing. This helps them set up properly and hold their shape.
Notes
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Feel free to customize with your favorite mix-ins!
