Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add wet ingredients: Mix in the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Make the dough: Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until combined.
- Chill the dough: Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing cookies 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers look slightly soft.
- Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Add glaze (optional): Whisk glaze ingredients together and drizzle over cooled cookies. Sprinkle with flaky salt if desired.

- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- For a thicker cookie, ensure to chill the dough for the full 30 minutes.
