Description

Deliciously soft and chewy Maple Brown Sugar Cookies with a hint of maple sweetness and a rich brown sugar flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar (for glaze, optional)
  • 23 tbsp maple syrup (for glaze, optional)
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze, optional)
  • Flaky sea salt or coarse sugar (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Mix in the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Make the dough: Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until combined.
  5. Chill the dough: Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing cookies 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers look slightly soft.
  7. Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Add glaze (optional): Whisk glaze ingredients together and drizzle over cooled cookies. Sprinkle with flaky salt if desired.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a thicker cookie, ensure to chill the dough for the full 30 minutes.
  • Adjust the amount of maple syrup in the glaze to achieve desired sweetness.
