Description

Crispy, golden, and irresistibly delicious—these homemade potato chips are everything you love about a classic snack, but made fresh in your own kitchen! With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up a batch of crunchy, perfectly seasoned chips that are way better than store-bought. Whether baked, air-fried, or deep-fried, these chips are guaranteed to be a hit. Get ready for snack perfection!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes (washed and thinly sliced, about 1/8-inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil, avocado oil)
  • Sea salt (to taste)
  • Optional seasonings: Garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper
  • Optional garnish: Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Prep the potatoes: Wash the potatoes well, then slice them thinly using a mandoline slicer or sharp knife. The thinner, the crispier!
  2. Soak the slices: Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes to 1 hour to remove excess starch. This step ensures a crispier chip!
  3. Dry thoroughly: Drain the potatoes and pat them completely dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  4. Season & oil: In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil and a generous sprinkle of sea salt (plus any additional seasonings you like).
  5. Bake: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the potato slices in a single layer without overlapping. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Cool & serve: Let the chips cool for a few minutes before enjoying! Serve as a snack, with dip, or alongside your favorite sandwich.

Notes

  • For extra crispy chips, make sure the potato slices are completely dry before baking.
  • Alternative cooking methods:
    • Air fryer: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
    • Deep frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry potato slices in batches for 3-4 minutes until crispy.
  • Storage tip: Keep leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Re-crisp in the oven if needed!
