Description
Delicious Rice Krispie treats made with marshmallows and freeze-dried strawberries for a fruity twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 ounces marshmallows (see notes)
- 1 ½ cups freeze dried strawberries
- ½ cup salted butter
- 6 cups rice krispie cereal
Instructions
- Line a 9×9 inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly grease it with butter.
- Cut 1 cup of the marshmallows into small pieces – about the size of a mini marshmallow.
- Add the freeze-dried strawberries to a food processor and process until mostly powder. You should have about ½ cup.
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-low heat.
- Add the remaining marshmallows to the pot and turn the heat to low. Melt the marshmallows, stirring the pot occasionally.
- Remove the pot from the heat, add the rice krispie cereal, powdered freeze-dried strawberries, and the marshmallows you cut into small pieces and stir until combined.
- Transfer to the baking dish and gently press down – buttering your fingers helps prevent them from sticking.
- If you’d like, press a few freeze-dried strawberries into the top.
- Let the rice krispie treats cool for at least a half hour and then cut them into squares.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh marshmallows and not stale ones.
