Description
A delicious and savory Western Omelet Quiche that combines the flavors of ham, bell peppers, and cheese in a flaky pie crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
- 1 cup diced ham
- ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
- ½ cup chopped red bell pepper
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup half-and-half (or heavy cream for richer flavor)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place your unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Prick the bottom lightly with a fork and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and bell peppers; sauté until softened, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir in ham, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture into the prepared pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden. If the crust browns too quickly, cover the edges with foil.
- Let the quiche cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use Monterey Jack or Swiss cheese for a milder flavor.
- Substitute ham with cooked bacon or sausage.
- Make it crustless for a low-carb version — just pour the filling into a greased pie dish.
