Description

A delicious and savory Western Omelet Quiche that combines the flavors of ham, bell peppers, and cheese in a flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
  • ½ cup chopped red bell pepper
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half (or heavy cream for richer flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place your unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Prick the bottom lightly with a fork and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and bell peppers; sauté until softened, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir in ham, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Pour the egg mixture into the prepared pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden. If the crust browns too quickly, cover the edges with foil.
  6. Let the quiche cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use Monterey Jack or Swiss cheese for a milder flavor.
  • Substitute ham with cooked bacon or sausage.
  • Make it crustless for a low-carb version — just pour the filling into a greased pie dish.
