Description
A classic, simple dessert featuring fresh strawberries topped with homemade whipped cream. Perfect for a quick treat or elegant finish to any meal.
Ingredients
-
1 pound fresh strawberries
-
1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for macerating strawberries)
-
1 cup heavy whipping cream, chilled
-
2 tablespoons powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Wash the strawberries, remove the green tops (hulls), and slice them.
-
Place the sliced strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle with 1-2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Toss gently to combine and let them sit for 10-15 minutes to macerate, releasing their juices.
-
While the strawberries macerate, prepare the whipped cream. In a chilled bowl, pour in the chilled heavy cream.
-
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, start whipping the cream on low speed, gradually increasing to medium-high.
-
When the cream starts to thicken, add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Continue whipping until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
-
Spoon the whipped cream generously over the macerated strawberries.
-
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
-
For best results, ensure both the heavy cream and bowl are chilled before whipping.
-
You can adjust the amount of sugar based on your sweetness preference.
-
Optional: Garnish with a sprig of mint or a light dusting of cocoa powder.
