The Lavender Lattice Diamond Door Curtain is made of strands of airy diamond motifs that alternate between soft lavender and warm cream. Each motif has a small open center, four puffy fan-shaped petals, and an open lattice of chain arches. When the curtain hangs in a sunny doorway, light passes through every motif.
The palette is calm and garden-inspired: six cream strands and five lavender strands, each finished with a full tassel in its own color. The style is part boho and part cottage. It works well in a patio door, a wide pass-through, or a closet opening.
This pattern uses US crochet terms. The finished curtain is 59.4 in (150.9 cm) wide and 80 in (203.2 cm) tall, measured from the top of the folded header to the tassel tips.
Construction is simple and repetitive. You make each strand with join-as-you-go, so every motif joins tip to tip with the one above it as you finish its last round. Then you crochet a single-crochet header straight across the top hanging loops of all 11 strands, fold it over, and stitch it into a rod pocket. Tassels go on last.

Materials
Use a smooth, mercerized or combed DK cotton. Cotton holds the puff petals crisply, blocks well, and doesn’t stretch much while it hangs. The quantities below assume about 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g ball.
- Cream: 550 g, about 1,375 m (1,504 yd), for 84 motifs, 6 tassels, and the header
- Lavender: 350 g, about 875 m (957 yd), for 70 motifs and 5 tassels
These quantities include a margin of roughly 15–20% for gauge differences and for tassels.
Tools

– Scissors
– Stiff card 5 in (12.7 cm) tall, for tassels
– Rustproof pins and a blocking mat
– Spray bottle
– Tape measure
– Curtain rod or tension rod up to 0.75 in (1.9 cm) in diameter
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sp: space
- st(s): stitch(es)
- yo: yarn over
Special stitches
- Puff stitch (puff): (Yo, insert hook in the stitch, yo, pull up a loop to about 0.5 in (1.3 cm)) 3 times. You now have 7 loops on the hook. Yo and pull through all 7 loops. The petal’s ch-1 between puffs locks each puff closed.
- Petal: Work (puff, ch 1) 3 times, then 1 more puff, all in the same stitch. That gives 4 puffs and 3 ch-1 spaces.
- Picot tip: Ch 3 between two groups of corner sc.
Gauge and Checkpoints
Header gauge: 20 sc and 24 rows = 4 in (10.2 cm) square.
Motif gauge: One blocked motif measures 3.5 in (8.9 cm) per side and 5.25 in (13.3 cm) tip to tip, picots included.
Before you start a strand, make one complete test motif and block it. Check its size at each stage:
- After Round 1: the ring is 1.25 in (3.2 cm) across.
- After Round 2: the petals measure 2.75 in (7.0 cm) tip to tip.
- After Round 3: the motif is 4 in (10.2 cm) corner to corner.
- After Round 4: the lattice is 4.75 in (12.1 cm) corner to corner.
- After Round 5, blocked: each side is 3.5 in (8.9 cm) and the motif is 5.25 in (13.3 cm) tip to tip.
If your motif is too big, go down to a 3.25 mm hook. If it’s too small, go up to a 3.75 mm hook. A difference of only 0.25 in (0.6 cm) per motif adds up to 3.5 in (8.9 cm) over a 14-motif strand, so check your gauge before you commit.

Diamond Motif
Make 84 in cream and 70 in lavender. Motif 1 of each strand and motifs 2–14 differ only in Round 5. Both versions are explained in the joining section below.
Round 1: Make a magic ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), then work 15 dc in the ring. Pull the ring snug but leave a small open hole in the center. Sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3. (16 dc)
Round 2: Ch 1. Sc in the same st as the join. Skip 1 st, work a petal in the next st, skip 1 st, sc in the next st. Repeat from * 2 more times. Then skip 1 st, work a petal in the next st, skip 1 st, and sl st to the first sc. (4 petals and 4 sc: 16 puffs, 12 ch-1 sps, 4 sc)
Each petal uses 4 stitches of Round 1 (sc, skip, petal, skip), and 4 x 4 = 16, so the round fits exactly.
Round 3 (corners): Ch 1. Sc in the same sc. Ch 4. In the middle ch-1 sp of the next petal, work (dc, ch 3, dc) for the corner. Ch 4, then sc in the next sc. Repeat from * 3 more times, but on the last repeat skip the final sc and sl st to the first sc instead. (4 sc, 8 dc, 4 corner ch-3 sps, 8 ch-4 sps)
The petals now point to the four corners. Each side has 2 ch-4 spaces.
Round 4 (lattice): Sl st into the next ch-4 sp. Ch 1, sc in the same sp, ch 5, and work (sc, ch 5, sc) in the corner sp. (Ch 5, sc in the next ch-4 sp) 2 times, ch 5, and work (sc, ch 5, sc) in the corner sp. Repeat from * 2 more times. Ch 5, sc in the last ch-4 sp, ch 5, and sl st to the first sc. (16 sc, 4 corner ch-5 sps, 12 side ch-5 sps)
Each side has 3 open arches between corners. These arches form the lattice.
Round 5 (solid edge): Sl st into the next ch-5 sp. Ch 1 and work 5 sc in the same sp. In the corner sp, work (3 sc, ch 3, 3 sc). Work 5 sc in each of the next 3 ch-5 sps, then (3 sc, ch 3, 3 sc) in the corner sp. Repeat from * 2 more times. Work 5 sc in each of the last 2 ch-5 sps and sl st to the first sc. Fasten off and weave in the ends. (84 sc and 4 ch-3 picots)
Per side: 3 corner sc + (3 x 5) arch sc + 3 corner sc = 21 sc. The four sides give 4 x 21 = 84 sc. The ch-3 picots are the tips and are not counted as stitches.
The first corner you work in Round 5 is Corner 1 (top). The third corner is Corner 3 (bottom).

Joining
Method: Join-as-you-go, tip to tip, in Round 5.
Motif 1 (top of strand): Work Round 5 as written, except at Corner 1 work (3 sc, ch 6, 3 sc). The ch-6 loop becomes the strand’s hanging loop and adds about 0.5 in (1.3 cm) above the motif.
Motifs 2–14: Work Rounds 1–4 as usual. In Round 5, work Corner 1 like this: 3 sc, ch 1, sl st into the Corner 3 picot of the previous motif, ch 1, 3 sc. Finish the round as written.
Stitch-to-stitch logic: The join replaces only the ch-3 picot with ch 1, sl st, ch 1. The 3 sc on each side of the corner don’t change, so each joined motif still has exactly 84 sc. The joined picot stays the same height as a ch-3 picot, which keeps the spacing even.
Tension: Work the joining sl st loosely. Pull up the loop so it is as tall as the picot it replaces. A tight join pinches the tips and makes the strand shorter.
Size checkpoint: Each motif adds 5.25 in (13.3 cm) of length.
– After 4 motifs, the strand measures 21 in (53.3 cm).
– A finished 14-motif strand measures 73.5 in (186.7 cm), plus the hanging loop.
If you are off by more than 0.5 in (1.3 cm) after 4 motifs, adjust your hook size before you continue.
Border (Top Header Band)
On this curtain, the border is a cream rod-pocket header worked straight across the hanging loops of all 11 strands.
Border gauge: 20 sc = 4 in (10.2 cm), which is 5 sc per inch.
Why the math works: Each strand gets a 27-stitch unit of header: 6 sc in its hanging loop plus 21 sts of spacing. At 5 sc per inch, 27 sts = 5.4 in (13.7 cm). A strand is 5.25 in (13.3 cm) wide, so this leaves a small gap of 0.15 in (0.4 cm) between strands and stops them from crowding or overlapping.
Across the top, 11 strands x 27 sts per strand = 297 sts. At 5 sc per inch, 297 / 5 = 59.4 in (150.9 cm).
Row 1: Lay the strands in order 1–11, right side up. Make a slip knot and ch 10. Work 6 sc into the ch-6 hanging loop of the next strand, then ch 21. Repeat from * 9 more times. Work 6 sc into the loop of Strand 11, then ch 12. The last chain is the turning chain.
– Count: 10 + (10 x 27) + 6 + 11 = 297 sts (66 sc and 231 ch), not counting the turning chain.
The 10 starting chains and 11 ending chains add up to one 21-stitch gap, split between the two ends. This keeps Strand 1 and Strand 11 the same distance from the edges.
Row 2: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch and sc across. (297 sc)
Rows 3–12: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in each st across. (297 sc per row)
The band now measures 59.4 in (150.9 cm) x 2 in (5.1 cm). Fasten off and leave a 60 in (152.4 cm) tail.
Rod pocket: Fold Rows 7–12 to the back so that Row 12 lies on top of Row 6. Whipstitch Row 12 to Row 6 one stitch at a time, matching all 297 sts. The folded header is 1 in (2.5 cm) deep and fits a rod up to 0.75 in (1.9 cm) in diameter.
Tassels
Make 6 in cream and 5 in lavender.
- Wrap yarn 40 times around a card that is 5 in (12.7 cm) tall.
- Slide a 10 in (25.4 cm) strand under the top of the wraps and tie it tightly. Leave both ends long.
- Cut through the bottom loops.
- Wrap a separate strand around the tassel 0.75 in (1.9 cm) below the top, 8 times. Knot it and bury the ends inside the tassel.
- Trim the tassel to 5 in (12.7 cm).
- Use the long top ties to fasten each tassel through the Corner 3 picot of the strand’s Motif 14. Knot firmly and hide the ends inside the tassel.
Final Blocking
- Wet the curtain strand by strand with the spray bottle, or soak each strand briefly and gently press out the water. Don’t wring it.
- Lay one strand flat on the blocking mat.
- Pin each motif to 3.5 in (8.9 cm) per side and 5.25 in (13.3 cm) tip to tip. Put a pin through every picot.
- Shape the petals with your fingertips so they cup slightly, and open each lattice arch.
- Check the strand length: it should be 73.5 in (186.7 cm). Let it dry completely before you unpin it.
- Pin the header flat at 59.4 in (150.9 cm) x 1 in (2.5 cm) folded, and let it dry.
- Steam the tassels lightly and comb the strands straight with your fingers.
- Hang the curtain. Gravity will finish the blocking within a day or two.
Final Quality-Control Checklist
- Every motif has 84 sc and 4 picot tips, or 3 picots plus 1 join or hanging loop.
- Every motif measures 3.5 in (8.9 cm) per side.
- Each strand has 14 motifs and measures 73.5 in (186.7 cm).
- Strand colors alternate: cream, lavender, cream, and so on, with cream at both ends.
- Header Rows 2–12 each have 297 sc.
- The header measures 59.4 in (150.9 cm) wide.
- Strand spacing is 5.4 in (13.7 cm) center to center.
- All 11 tassels measure 5 in (12.7 cm) and are tied securely.
- All ends are woven in at least 2 in (5.1 cm) and are hidden.
- The total hanging height is 80 in (203.2 cm).
Troubleshooting
- Petals look flat: Pull each puff loop up to the full 0.5 in (1.3 cm) before you close it.
- Motif cups or ruffles: Check that Round 4 has exactly 3 arches per side and that each arch is a ch-5, not a ch-6.
- Tips curl backward: Block more firmly with a pin in every picot, or loosen the corner chains slightly.
- Strand too long: Your joins are too loose or your gauge is too big. Go down a hook size for the next motifs.
- Header wider than the rod: Your chains in Row 1 are looser than your sc. Use a smaller hook for the chains only.
- Strands twist when hanging: Block flat again and add a light spray of starch to the lattice rounds.
- Tassels look sparse: Increase to 50 wraps. This adds about 1 g of yarn per tassel.
Care
Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, press out the water in a towel, and re-block flat. To dust the curtain between washes, shake it gently or use a cool dryer setting on air-only.

Final Notes
The whole curtain follows one chain of measurements:
- One motif is 3.5 in (8.9 cm) per side and 5.25 in (13.3 cm) tip to tip.
- 14 motifs make a strand 73.5 in (186.7 cm) long.
- 11 strands at 27 header stitches each give 297 sts, or 59.4 in (150.9 cm) wide.
- 1 in (2.5 cm) folded header + 0.5 in (1.3 cm) hanging loop + 73.5 in (186.7 cm) of motifs + 5 in (12.7 cm) tassel = 80 in (203.2 cm) total height.
If your first motif matches its checkpoints, every later measurement will fall into place. Make one motif, block it, measure it, and then settle in for a relaxing, repetitive project.
Happy crocheting!
