The Coral Bloom Net Curtain combines an airy cream diamond mesh with a scatter of warm five-petal flowers. When the light comes through, the mesh almost disappears and the coral, salmon, and peach blooms look like they’re floating in the window. It suits a Mediterranean, cottage, or boho room.
The palette is simple: cream for the mesh and flower centers, plus three petal shades (coral red, salmon, and light peach). Spreading those three shades evenly across the panel keeps it balanced from a distance and lively up close.
This pattern uses US crochet terms. The finished curtain measures 35 in (88.9 cm) wide by 79.5 in (201.9 cm) long, not counting the hanging loops.
Here’s the construction. You work one mesh panel flat in rows, then make 49 flowers separately, block them, and sew them onto the mesh in a staggered grid. Two rounds of single crochet border frame the panel, and a final row of chain loops along the top edge holds the curtain on the rod.
Finished Size and Construction
- Finished size: 35 in x 79.5 in (88.9 cm x 201.9 cm), plus hanging loops
- Skill level: Easy
- Terminology: US
- Yarn weight: Worsted (#4) cotton
- Hooks: 5.0 mm (US H-8) for the mesh and border; 4.5 mm (US 7) for the flowers
- Number of pieces: 1 mesh panel + 49 flower appliqués
- Layout: 14 staggered flower rows, alternating 4 and 3 flowers
- Piece size: each flower 3 in (7.6 cm) across
- Size before border: 34 in x 78.5 in (86.4 cm x 199.4 cm)
- Border depth: 0.5 in (1.3 cm) on each side
Materials
Use a smooth, mercerized or combed worsted-weight cotton. Cotton keeps the mesh crisp, holds up to washing, and doesn’t stretch out much while hanging. Avoid acrylic: a long acrylic mesh panel tends to grow in length over time. The quantities below assume about 1.55 m per gram, which is typical of worsted cotton.
- Cream (mesh, border, loops, flower centers): 850 g / 1,320 m
- Coral red (17 flowers): 50 g / 78 m
- Salmon (16 flowers): 50 g / 78 m
- Light peach (16 flowers): 50 g / 78 m
Tools:
– 5.0 mm (US H-8) and 4.5 mm (US 7) crochet hooks
– Tapestry needle
– Stitch markers
– Rust-proof pins
– Measuring tape
– Spray bottle
– Blocking mats or a large clean towel
– Scissors
– Curtain rod, up to 1 in (2.5 cm) in diameter
All quantities include a margin of about 15% for gauge differences, swatching, and sewing tails.
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- sp – space
- rep – repeat
- rnd – round
Special stitch: Net loop. A ch-5 followed by a sc in the next ch-5 loop (or in the indicated st). Each net loop forms one side of a diamond.
Gauge and Checkpoints
Mesh gauge: 4 net loops = 4 in (10.2 cm) wide, and 8 rows = 4 in (10.2 cm) tall, measured after light blocking. In other words, 1 loop = 1 in (2.5 cm) wide and 1 row = 0.5 in (1.3 cm) tall.
Test swatch: With the 5.0 mm hook, ch 26 and work Rows 1–3, then repeat Rows 2–3 until you have 13 rows. The swatch has 6 loops and should measure 6 in x 6.5 in (15.2 cm x 16.5 cm) after spray blocking.
Test one flower first. Make one complete flower with the 4.5 mm hook.
– After Rnd 2, the cream center should measure 1.25 in (3.2 cm) across.
– The finished flower should measure 3 in (7.6 cm) from petal tip to petal tip.
Mesh checkpoints:
– After Row 1: 34 in (86.4 cm) wide
– After Row 41: 20.5 in (52.1 cm) long
– After Row 81: 40.5 in (102.9 cm) long
– After Row 121: 60.5 in (153.7 cm) long
– After Row 157: 78.5 in (199.4 cm) long
If your work is too big, go down one hook size. If it’s too small, go up one hook size. A mesh that’s only 0.25 in (0.6 cm) off per 4 in (10.2 cm) ends up more than 2 in (5.1 cm) off across the full width, so fix the gauge before you commit to the foundation chain.

Mesh Panel
Use the 5.0 mm hook and cream. Keep your chains even. Loose, uneven chains are the main reason mesh looks messy.
Foundation: Ch 138. (This is 4 x 34 loops + 2.)
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 5, sk 3 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across. Turn.
(34 ch-5 loops, 35 sc)*
Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), sc in first ch-5 loop, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 loop; rep from * across to the last loop, ending with sc in last loop. Ch 2, dc in last sc. Turn.
(33 full ch-5 loops, 2 half loops at the edges, 34 sc)*
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 loop; rep from * across 32 more times, ch 5, sc in 3rd ch of turning ch-5. Turn.
(34 ch-5 loops, 35 sc)*
Rows 4–157: Rep Rows 2–3 another 77 times.
You finish on a Row 3-type row, so the top edge is a straight line of 34 full loops with 35 sc knots, matching the foundation. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Panel check: 34 in x 78.5 in (86.4 cm x 199.4 cm). Lay it flat and measure without stretching. If it’s more than 1 in (2.5 cm) off in length, add or remove rows in pairs before you border.
Flower Appliqué (make 49)
Use the 4.5 mm hook.
Rnd 1 (cream): Make a magic ring. Ch 1, work 10 sc in the ring and pull the ring closed, leaving a small open center about 0.25 in (0.6 cm) across. Sl st in first sc.
(10 sc)
Rnd 2 (cream): Ch 1, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * 4 more times. Sl st in first sc. Fasten off cream.
(15 sc)*
Rnd 3 (petal color): Join the petal color with a sl st in any sc; this counts as the first sl st. (hdc, 3 dc) in next sc, (3 dc, hdc) in next sc, sl st in next sc; rep from * 4 more times, leaving out the final sl st on the last repeat. Sl st in the joining sl st.
(45 sts: 5 sl st, 10 hdc, 30 dc. That’s 5 petals of 9 sts each.)*
Each petal sits over 3 Rnd 2 stitches: 1 sl st as the anchor plus 2 shell stitches. Since 5 x 3 = 15, the petals use up Rnd 2 exactly. The tip of each petal falls between its two 3-dc groups.
Fasten off, leaving a 12 in (30.5 cm) tail of the petal color for sewing. Weave in the cream tail on the back.
Make All Pieces
Make 49 flowers, all with cream centers:
– Coral red: 17
– Salmon: 16
– Light peach: 16
Spray block the flowers flat to 3 in (7.6 cm) and let them dry before sewing.
Layout grid. There are 14 rows, read from the bottom of the curtain up. C = coral, S = salmon, P = peach. The 3-flower rows sit centered between the 4-flower rows.
Row 14 (mesh row 150): S P C
Row 13 (mesh row 139): C S P C
Row 12 (mesh row 128): C S P
Row 11 (mesh row 117): P C S P
Row 10 (mesh row 106): P C S
Row 9 (mesh row 95): S P C S
Row 8 (mesh row 84): S P C
Row 7 (mesh row 73): C S P C
Row 6 (mesh row 62): C S P
Row 5 (mesh row 51): P C S P
Row 4 (mesh row 40): P C S
Row 3 (mesh row 29): S P C S
Row 2 (mesh row 18): S P C
Row 1 (mesh row 7): C S P C
Count check: 7 rows x 4 + 7 rows x 3 = 49 flowers. The color tally is C 17, S 16, P 16.
Joining: Attaching the Flowers
Vertical placement. Rows are 0.5 in (1.3 cm) tall, so flower rows fall every 11 mesh rows, which is 5.5 in (14.0 cm). Row 1 of the grid sits on mesh row 7, which is 3.5 in (8.9 cm) above the bottom edge. Row 14 sits on mesh row 150, leaving 7 rows (3.5 in / 8.9 cm) above it. The top and bottom margins match.
Horizontal placement. On every odd mesh row, the sc knots line up 1 in (2.5 cm) apart and are numbered 0 to 34 from the right edge.
– 4-flower rows: center the flowers over knots 5, 13, 21, and 29. That’s 5 in (12.7 cm), 13 in (33.0 cm), 21 in (53.3 cm), and 29 in (73.7 cm) from the edge.
– 3-flower rows: center the flowers over knots 9, 17, and 25. That’s 9 in (22.9 cm), 17 in (43.2 cm), and 25 in (63.5 cm).
In both cases the outer margins are 5 in (12.7 cm) and the flowers are 8 in (20.3 cm) apart. Pin all 49 flowers in place before you sew any of them.
Stitch-to-stitch method. Thread the 12 in (30.5 cm) petal tail onto the tapestry needle.
1. Working from the front, whipstitch through the back loop of each of the 15 Rnd 2 stitches. Catch the nearest mesh strand on the back each time. That gives 15 anchor points around the center.
2. Then travel along the back to each petal tip. Tack the tip with 2 small stitches over one mesh strand.
Each flower ends up with 15 center anchors plus 5 tip tacks, so the petals can’t curl or flip.
Tension. Sew just firmly enough to hold the flower flat. Pull too hard and the diamonds bunch up behind the flower. Lay the panel flat while you work, never in your lap.
Size checkpoint: after all the flowers are attached, the panel should still measure 34 in x 78.5 in (86.4 cm x 199.4 cm).
Border
Border gauge: 4 sc = 1 in (2.5 cm) with the 5.0 mm hook.
This matches the mesh exactly. One loop is 1 in wide, so it takes 4 sc (3 in the loop + 1 in the knot). One row is 0.5 in tall, so it takes 2 sc per row end.
Rnd 1: With the right side facing, join cream in the first sc knot of Row 157 (top right corner).
– Top edge: Sc in the sc knot, 3 sc in the next ch-5 loop; rep from * 33 more times, then sc in the last knot. (35 knots + 34 x 3 = 137 sc.) Ch 2 for the corner.
– Side edge: Work 2 sc around each row-end post or chain down the side. (157 rows x 2 = 314 sc.) Ch 2 for the corner.
– Bottom edge: Working into the foundation chain, sc in the base of each sc knot and 3 sc in each ch-3 group under the loops. (137 sc.) Ch 2 for the corner.
– Second side edge:* Work 2 sc per row end as before. (314 sc.) Ch 2 and sl st in the first sc.
(902 sc: 137 + 314 + 137 + 314, plus 4 corner ch-2 sps)
Rnd 2: Ch 1. Sc in each sc around, and work (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner ch-2 sp. Sl st in the first sc.
This is a conversion round: 902 sc worked 1 per existing stitch, plus 8 corner sc added, gives 910 sc.
– Top and bottom: 137 + 2 = 139 sc each. These 139 include the 2 corner sc on that side.
– Sides: 314 + 2 = 316 sc each.
Total: 139 + 316 + 139 + 316 = 910.
Hanging loops (top edge only): Sl st in the first of the 139 top sc, ch 16, sl st in the same st. *Sl st in each of the next 6 sc, ch 16, sl st in the same st; rep from * 22 more times.
Since 1 + 6 x 23 = 139, you end exactly on the last top stitch. That gives 24 loops about 1.5 in (3.8 cm) apart, each about 4 in (10.2 cm) around. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Why the math works: the border puts exactly 4 sc into every 1 in (2.5 cm) of mesh in both directions, so the edge neither ruffles nor pulls in. Two sc rounds add 0.5 in (1.3 cm) on each side:
– Width: 34 + 1 = 35 in (88.9 cm)
– Length: 78.5 + 1 = 79.5 in (201.9 cm)
Final Blocking
- Lay the curtain face up on mats or towels. Work in sections if you don’t have room for the whole thing.
- Pin the border straight to 35 in (88.9 cm) wide, and check that the diamonds line up vertically.
- Spray the mesh and flowers until damp, not soaked.
- Gently open any flattened diamonds by hand, and press the flowers flat.
- Let one section dry completely before unpinning it and moving on to the next.
- Hang the curtain, check that it’s 79.5 in (201.9 cm) long, and give the hem a light spray so it hangs straight.
Final Quality-Control Checklist
- [ ] Panel is 35 in x 79.5 in (88.9 cm x 201.9 cm)
- [ ] Every mesh row has 34 full loops or 33 loops + 2 half loops
- [ ] 49 flowers: 17 coral, 16 salmon, 16 peach
- [ ] Every flower is 3 in (7.6 cm) and has 5 even petals
- [ ] Flower rows are 5.5 in (14.0 cm) apart, with matching top and bottom margins
- [ ] All petal tips are tacked down
- [ ] Border Rnd 2 has 910 sc and 4 flat corners
- [ ] 24 hanging loops, evenly spaced
- [ ] All ends woven in on the back
Troubleshooting
- Mesh slants to one side: you probably skipped a loop at the row’s end. Count the loops on every row for the first 10 rows.
- Edges wave: the turning chains are too loose. Make the ch-5 at the start of Row 2-type rows a little firmer.
- Panel too narrow: chains are too tight. Go up a hook size, or loosen your chain tension only.
- Petals cup: the hdc and dc are tight. Use the 5.0 mm hook for Rnd 3 only.
- Puckers behind flowers: sewing tension is too tight. Unpick and resew more loosely.
- Border ruffles: you have too many sc. Recount to 137 and 314 per side.
- Curtain grows in length: usually caused by fiber content. Rewash and dry the panel flat, and hang it only once it’s dry.
Care
Hand wash cold or machine wash on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, then lay flat to dry. Don’t tumble dry, and reshape the mesh while it’s damp.

Final Notes
The whole design follows one measurement chain:
– 1 loop = 1 in (2.5 cm) wide and 1 row = 0.5 in (1.3 cm) tall
– 34 loops and 157 rows give a mesh of 34 in x 78.5 in (86.4 cm x 199.4 cm)
– Flowers at 3 in (7.6 cm), placed every 8 in (20.3 cm) across and 5.5 in (14.0 cm) up
– 4 sc per inch in the border adds 0.5 in (1.3 cm) per side, for a finished size of 35 in x 79.5 in (88.9 cm x 201.9 cm)
Check each link in the chain and the finished curtain will hang straight and true. Happy crocheting!
