This hanging holder stacks three lacy lavender baskets, one above the other, so you can store spare toilet paper rolls on a wall or door hook. Each basket has an open lattice of mesh loops and petal clusters, a lime picot rim, and a cream daisy with two green leaves on the front.
The colors are soft and fresh. Lavender is used for the baskets and straps, lime green for the rims and daisy centers, cream for the petals, and medium green for the leaves. The style is cottage-like and practical, and the open mesh shows off the rolls inside.
This pattern uses US crochet terms. The finished holder is about 21.75 in (55.2 cm) long, including the ring. Each basket is 5.5 in (14.0 cm) across and 4.25 in (10.8 cm) tall, and holds a standard roll about 4.5 in (11.4 cm) wide.
Here’s how it goes together. You crochet each basket in the round from the base up and make six flat straps. Then you attach the straps and the wooden ring, add the lime picot rims, and sew on the daisies and leaves.
Finished Size and Construction

Abbreviations (US Terms)
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- inc: 2 sc in the same stitch
- BLO: back loop only
- sk: skip
- sp: space
- st(s): stitch(es)
- rnd: round
Special stitches
- Cluster (cl): *Yarn over, insert the hook in the space, pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops; repeat from * once more. Yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook.
- Beginning cluster (beg cl): Ch 2, then work 1 dc in the same space. The ch 2 counts as the first leg.
- Picot: Ch 3, sl st in the 3rd ch from the hook.
Gauge and Checkpoints
Gauge: 16 sc and 18 rnds = 4 in (10.2 cm) in sc.
Make one full basket before you start the others. That basket is your gauge test, and you can match the other two to it.
Checkpoints:
- After Rnd 6: the base is 2.75 in (7.0 cm) across.
- After Rnd 12: the base is 5.5 in (14.0 cm) across.
- After Rnd 15: the solid band is 0.75 in (1.9 cm) tall.
- After Rnd 20: the basket is 3.75 in (9.5 cm) tall. The lattice alone is 3 in (7.6 cm).
- After Rnd 22: the basket is 4.25 in (10.8 cm) tall.
If your base is too big, switch to a 4.5 mm hook. If it’s too small, switch to a 5.5 mm hook. Change the hook size instead of adding rounds, because the lattice repeat needs exactly 72 stitches.

Basket (Make 3)
Work in joined rounds. Ch 1 at the start of a round does not count as a stitch.
Base
With lavender:
Rnd 1: Make a magic ring and work 6 sc in the ring. Sl st to the first sc. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, inc in each st around, join. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in next st, inc 6 times, join. (18 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in next 2 sts, inc 6 times, join. (24 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, inc 6 times, join. (30 sts)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sts, inc 6 times, join. (36 sts)
Rnds 7–12: Keep going the same way, working one more sc before each inc in every round. Rnd 7 has 42 sts, Rnd 8 has 48, Rnd 9 has 54, Rnd 10 has 60, Rnd 11 has 66, and Rnd 12 has 72.
Check: the base is 5.5 in (14.0 cm) across.
Solid Band
Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc BLO in each st around, join. (72 sts) The unworked front loops make a neat ridge and turn the work upward.
Rnds 14–15: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join. (72 sts)
Lattice
Rnd 16 (mesh): Ch 1, sc in the first st, ch 4, sk 3, sc in next st 17 times, ch 4, sk 3, sl st to the first sc. (18 sc, 18 ch-4 sps)
Rnd 17 (petals): Sl st in the first ch-4 sp. Beg cl, ch 3, cl in the same sp, ch 1, (cl, ch 3, cl) in next ch-4 sp, ch 1 17 times. Sl st to the top of the beg cl. (36 cl, 18 ch-3 sps, 18 ch-1 sps)
Each pair of clusters forms a V that looks like two petals.
Rnd 18 (mesh): Sl st in the next ch-3 sp. Ch 1, sc in the same sp, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 sp 17 times, ch 4, sl st to the first sc. (18 sc, 18 ch-4 sps)
Each sc now sits in the center of a V, so the new loops shift by half a repeat. That shift is what creates the diamond lattice.
Rnd 19 (petals): Repeat Rnd 17. (36 cl, 18 ch-3 sps, 18 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 20 (mesh): Repeat Rnd 18. (18 sc, 18 ch-4 sps)
Fasten off the lavender. Check: the basket is 3.75 in (9.5 cm) tall.
Mark the strap positions: Count the 18 sc of Rnd 20. Put a marker in sc #1 and another in sc #10. They sit directly opposite each other and mark the two sides. The front is halfway between them, centered between sc #5 and sc #6.
Daisy (Make 3)
Rnd 1: With lime, make a magic ring and work 10 sc in the ring. Sl st to the first sc and fasten off. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: Join cream with a sl st in any sc. Ch 3, 2 dc in the same st, ch 3, sl st in the same st, sl st in next sc 10 times. The last sl st lands in the joining st. (10 petals)
Fasten off, leaving a 12 in (30.5 cm) tail. The daisy is about 2 in (5.1 cm) across.
Leaf (Make 6)
With medium green, ch 8.
Side 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, 3 sc in the last ch.
Side 2: Working along the other side of the chain: hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch. Ch 2 for the tip, then sl st at the base of the first sc.
Fasten off, leaving a 12 in (30.5 cm) tail. The leaf is 1.75 in (4.4 cm) long.
Straps (Make 6)
Every strap is 4 sc wide, which is 1 in (2.5 cm).
With lavender, ch 5.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. (4 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (4 sc)
Connector straps (make 4): Repeat Row 2 until you have 18 rows. The strap is 4 in (10.2 cm) long.
Hanger straps (make 2): Repeat Row 2 until you have 27 rows. The strap is 6 in (15.2 cm) long.
Fasten off each strap, leaving a 12 in (30.5 cm) tail.

Joining
Ring cover: Join lavender to the wooden ring and work 20 sc over the ring to cover its lower half. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Stitch logic: Sew every strap on with whipstitch, matching stitch to stitch. Center each strap end on a marked sc column, so the 4 strap stitches cover the marked sc and the stitches on either side of it.
Connector straps: Lay Basket 1 above Basket 2, and Basket 2 above Basket 3.
- Sew the top 1 in (2.5 cm) of a connector strap to the outside of the upper basket, lined up under a marked sc. It covers the 0.75 in (1.9 cm) solid band plus 0.25 in (0.6 cm) of the base edge.
- Sew the bottom 1 in (2.5 cm) of the same strap to the inside wall of the lower basket, lined up with the matching marker. Start at the top of Rnd 20 and work down.
- Repeat on the opposite side.
Hanger straps: Sew the bottom 1 in (2.5 cm) of each hanger strap inside Basket 1 at a marked position, the same way as the connectors. Bring both straps up, fold the top 1 in (2.5 cm) of each over the covered part of the ring, and sew it to itself.
Tension advice: Sew firmly through both loops of the strap stitches, but don’t pull so hard that the lattice puckers. Lift the holder and check that the baskets hang level. If one side tilts, change that overlap by one row.
Checkpoint: Once the rims are on, the visible strap between baskets will be 1.5 in (3.8 cm), and the hanger straps will show 3.5 in (8.9 cm) above Basket 1.
Border: Lime Picot Rim
Border gauge: 16 sc = 4 in (10.2 cm), the same as the basket. 72 sts make 18 in (45.7 cm) around, which matches the base.
Work the rim on each basket. The straps sit inside the wall, so work through the basket stitches only.
Rnd 21 (conversion): Join lime with a sl st in the marked sc #1 of Rnd 20. Ch 1, sc in the sc, 3 sc in next ch-4 sp 18 times, sl st to the first sc. That’s 18 sc worked 1 per existing sc, plus 54 sc worked into the 18 ch-4 sps, for 72 sts in all.
Rnd 22 (picots): Ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, picot, sc in next st 18 times, sl st to the first sc. (72 sc, 18 picots)
Counts per side: The front half, from marker #1 to marker #10, has 9 repeats: 36 sc and 9 picots. The back half also has 9 repeats: 36 sc and 9 picots.
Why the math works: 72 is exactly 18 repeats of 4. Each repeat matches one mesh unit of Rnd 20, which is one sc plus one ch-4 sp. Every picot sits over the center of a mesh loop, so the bumps are evenly spaced and the rim lies flat without ruffling or pulling in.
Fasten off and weave in the ends. The rim adds 0.5 in (1.3 cm), so the basket is now 4.25 in (10.8 cm) tall.
Appliqué: Center a daisy on the front of each basket, between sc #5 and sc #6, over Rnds 17–19. Tuck a leaf under each side of the daisy, angled slightly upward and pointing outward. Sew the leaves on first, then the daisy, whipstitching around the outer edges.
Final Blocking
- Lightly mist the whole holder until it is damp but not wet.
- Put a toilet paper roll in each basket to shape the walls.
- Lay the holder flat on a blocking surface.
- Gently open the lattice so the diamonds are even, and pin each picot upright.
- Measure. Each basket should be 5.5 in (14.0 cm) across and 4.25 in (10.8 cm) tall, and the whole holder should be 21.75 in (55.2 cm) long.
- Let it dry completely, then remove the pins and the rolls.
Final Quality-Control Checklist
- Each base is 5.5 in (14.0 cm) across and lies flat.
- Each lattice has 18 mesh loops and 18 petal Vs per round.
- Each rim has 72 sc and 18 evenly spaced picots.
- The straps sit directly opposite each other on every basket.
- The gaps are 1.5 in (3.8 cm) between baskets and 3.5 in (8.9 cm) above Basket 1.
- Each daisy is centered on the front, with one leaf on each side.
- The holder hangs straight and all ends are securely woven in.
Troubleshooting
- The base ruffles: Your stitches are too loose. Go down a hook size, and check that you have exactly 6 increases per round.
- The base cups: Your tension is too tight. Go up a hook size.
- The lattice count is off: Count the sc in Rnd 16. You need exactly 18.
- A basket tilts: Re-sew one strap end with a slightly shorter or longer overlap.
- The daisy curls: Steam it lightly before sewing it on.
Care
Hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry, reshaping each basket over a roll. Don’t wring it or tumble dry it.

Final Notes
The measurement chain is simple. The 72 base stitches make a 5.5 in (14.0 cm) base. The 18-repeat lattice brings the wall to 3.75 in (9.5 cm), and the 72-stitch picot rim adds 0.5 in (1.3 cm), so each basket is 4.25 in (10.8 cm) tall. Three baskets, two 1.5 in (3.8 cm) gaps, a 3.5 in (8.9 cm) hanger and a 2.5 in (6.4 cm) ring add up to 21.75 in (55.2 cm).
Happy crocheting!
